Army School of Design
One of the benefits of being the child of an Army family is the exposure the life offers to different people and places. My current love of decorative design was influenced by our frequent moves and the accompanying challenge of fitting our furnishings into a myriad of different homes. Being an Army brat offered me the opportunity to help my Mother rearrange furniture every year or so. In fact it became such a habit that we would rearrange (or as we know it today restyle) almost monthly as a form of entertainment. I often skipped watching Batman to help my Mom push the sofa around the living room.My mother was especially enamored with decorative goods from Italy. Namely gilt tole chandeliers and candle sticks and florentine trays and cigarette boxes. Thus my affection for all things Italian.
All Grown Up in North Carolina
My life eventually led me back to North Carolina via a long stint in Cleveland, Ohio. There I met my husband, found our beautiful Beau (Beauregard Blue) our yellow Labrador Retriever and gave birth to our twin girls. After the shock of the life change of having babies I gave up my career a healthcare executive and we moved home to North Carolina. With two babies in tow I set out to decorate our new house. The purchase of chandeliers was first on my list as I was determined to replace the builder fixtures gracing our space. The more I learned about chandeliers the more chandeliers I bought. The garage was bursting with my "finds" when my husband strongly suggested that I get rid of some of them. I began selling them to friends and thus we have Beauregard Blue. I named my business after my sweet companion who now comes to sit on our porch in the wee hours of the morning to see how our lives are progressing.
Why We Are
I believe in enduring style. The chandelier I have hanging over my kitchen sink graced my Mother's bedside in the 60s. It looks as fabulous now as ever. When you buy a new chandelier you can bet that no matter how beautiful it is today it will look dated in a few years. But when you buy a vintage or antique chandelier the look never changes. If you love it today you will always love it as it is already as dated as it will get. I believe in furnishing for today and for all the days to come. That's us, that's why. I hope we can bring some beautiful lights to your home too.
